FROMM A383 – Pneumatic Sealless Strapping Tool with Customized Options

Steel strapping is known to be the firmest of all banding materials. While many would say that the demand for steel banding is declining because of certain negativities, the fact remains that there are numerous applications where steel strap works the best.  Cheap yet efficient are the reasons why steel strapping becomes a favored option for several industrial applications.

The FROMM A383, a pneumatic sealless strapping tool, is best designed for extreme weight loads that demand high break strength. With very high tensioning power of around 15000 N, the tool has become quite popular among varied sectors like aluminum, steel, non-ferrous metals and lumber. No matter how demanding or harsh the working condition is, you can rely on this FROMM tool for consistent performance.

Important features of A383:

Different models are available, suited for 19, 25 and 32 mm wide steel straps. Strap thickness varies between 0.63 – 1.30 mm. Strap tension versions are also of two types i.e. 10000 N and 15000 N. whereas tension speed is in the range of 3.7 – 5.7 inch/s. The machine belongs to the heavyweight category, weighing around 51.9 lbs without suspension and 52.9 lbs with suspension. Also, options are there to select from full automatic or semi-automatic mode. Accessories of the strapping tool include:

  • Standard Suspension bracket included with the tool
  • Vertical Suspension bracket
  • Horizontal Suspension bracket
  • Suspension bracket Universal

A383 – why it is a preferred strapping option

The prime reason which makes it quite attractive is the sealless joint technique. This helps reduce overall strapping cost significantly. Then it is the pneumatic tensioning factor that ensures precise and uniform tension of all straps while the air power helps exert greater strap tension. So, the buyer gains economically from reduced operational expenses. Further, he can be sure of optimum utilization of manpower and other resources.

BXT2-32- Signode’s Heavy Duty Poly Strapping Tool

With polyester strapping gaining popularity in the strapping tool industry, Signode’s battery powered combination tools are also being praised by the industry, that is slowly and surely switching to poly strapping. The Signode BXT2 series has three high powered battery operated tools, BXT2-16, BXT2-19 and BXT2-32, which are great tools on the market for heavy duty poly strapping.

The BXT2-32 is especially considered the best for heavy duty strapping applications in the lumber and steel industries, who were largely using steel strapping in previous years. This automatic strapping machine is more powerful than its other two counterparts, because it also uses a 36 V battery, the lithium-ion from Bosch. This is very efficient with a 75% joint efficiency.

In terms of flexibility this is tool is very good as it can be operated in the manual, semi-automatic and automatic modes.

Specifications

  • Strap qualities:  Polyester (PET)
  • Max. tension:  1,460 lbs.
  • Strap dimensions:  1″ and 1-1/4″
  • Sealing type:  Friction-weld sealing
  • Weight (including battery):  14.3 lbs.

The BXT2-32 works with 1″ (BXT2-25) and 1 1/4″ (BXT2-32) PET strapping. The user of this tool has a choice of using either manual, semi or automatic modes. The manual mode has a tension button that can be toggled and the feedwheel pulls until the button is released. Most users however, prefer to use the automatic mode as it does everything quickly and the operation is very simple too.

This tool is so strong that the manufacturers added a safety sensor at the back of the tool near the battery. This sensor makes sure that the operator’s hand does not get smashed while the banding is in process as both hands would be on the tool. The BXT2-32 comes with a good user manual and guide with complete instructions to the operator to wear gloves and safety glasses. Since the tool is very easy to operate, most users use the automatic mode where the strapping is pulled according to the preset level and then it automatically switches to weld, and cuts. It saves a lot of time to the operator this way.

Most industry experts recommend this tool as being very cost effective and the battery is also a hit among the users. In fact, it is due to the longevity and effectiveness of the battery that this tool is widely popular in the packaging industry. Not only does the battery hold charge for a long time, but it also recharges very quickly.
